Recent Major Refits
Bali Hai II
The Norman R Wright built Bali Hai II was 45 years old when AME began an extensive refit on her in 2009. Decks were replaced, the vessel was totally repainted and the entire electrical system was upgraded. All of her stainless steel and brightwork replaced or repaired. Add upholstery replacement she was brought back up to the standard which is required to continue as a 5 star charter vessel which is well known up and down the east coast of Australia.
ARROW
Arrow was purchased by Doug Kefford in 2009 and was immediately bought to Gold Coast City Marina and AME to undertake a major refit and bring her up to standard as a world cruiser for Doug and his family. Work was completed by AME in 2010 but the vessel is still regularly maintained by our shipwrights.
ACHILLES III
This vessel also owned by Doug Kefford undertook substantial work during 09-10. This work was undertaken in Brisbane at Rivergate Marina. Achilles had many changes made to her interior fitout during this time, generally modernising internal joinery. Again ongoing maintenance is provided to this vessel by AME.
ELLA’S PINK LADY
Jessica Watson has certainly become one of AME’s more high profile clients. AME became the principal repairer, donating labour and material to get Jessica Watson back on track for her record breaking adventure being the youngest solo sailor to circumnavigate the world in 2010. Jessica collided with a cargo ship of the Gold Coast and was taken to the Gold Coast City Marina for extensive hull and paint repairs. AME made the donation of all labour and materials because the owners, being sailors, saw a genuine passion for her to achieve her goal and felt that she had the ability to be a fantastic role model for other youths. The rest is as they say “history”.
PERSEUS
Perseus is a beautiful 48 metre Perini Navi design, she came to Australia from the US to compete in Hamilton Island Race Week 2010. Scooter from AME joined the crew for racing at Hamilton Island then returned with her to the Gold Coast for a small refit consisting of interior modifications, stainless replacement and repair, winch repairs. She left the Gold Coast in November of 2010 heading for Thailand and the Kings Cup regatta.
CLIPPER 60 (OWNER – CHRIS WILSON)
Chris took possession of his brand new Clipper 60 with the intention of extending the hull by 1.2 m. This work is now complete with Chris looking forward to having his beautiful new vessel shipped to the Med for a season of European cruising and then back to his homeland of New Zealand.
SAHANNA
CLIPPER 60 (OWNER – CHRIS WILSON)
Sahanna is a 30 metre Monte Fino which required a 1.5 mtr transom extension. She was lifted at Gold Coast City Marina and the work undertaken in on of the Super Yacht Sheds. This work was undertaken over a period of 5 weeks with the AME crew working hard to get her back in the water within the allocated time frame.
